Australian tennis player Bernard Tomic (33) and his girlfriend Keely Hannah have secretly become parents to a little girl.

Keely reveals the news on Instagram, where she shares several photos of the couple’s newborn daughter.

“The most beautiful secret we’ve ever kept,” she writes to the photos.

The daughter has been named Astara Aurelia Tomic, and was born on April 5.

Turbulent relationship

Bernard and Keely have been together since 2022.

The relationship began shortly after the tennis player broke up with reality star Vanessa Sierra.

The couple has previously made headlines with their relationship.

In 2024, it caused a stir when Bernard broke up a tennis match midway through the Little Rock Open ATP Challenger in Arkansas, after a loud argument with his girlfriend in the stands, an episode that quickly went viral.

Bernard is currently ranked around 180 to 190th place in the world.

• Tennis has been a part of my life since I was seven years old. I obviously had a father who pushed me extremely hard, and that’s one of the reasons I got this far, he said in the podcast “Changeover” last year, according to the Daily Mail.

He further explained that tennis still gives him a purpose in life:

• Without tennis, I don’t know what I would have done. I’m around number 200 in the world, or thereabouts, and my goal is to get into the top 100 and then I can finish.

Bernard admitted in the podcast that he was previously “destroyed” by all the traveling, and was burned out at the age of 24. Although he is not proud of all parts of his past, the tennis star believes that he was at times an easy target for journalists who were chasing headlines.

• I worked very hard when I was young. I lost my childhood, and then I got to a point where I – how should I put it – did not feel satisfied. Even when I was winning matches, I really just wanted to be normal. Tennis is a very isolated and tough sport, he admitted in the podcast.

Colorful life

Bernard Tomic was long considered one of the world’s greatest tennis talents. He broke through as a teenager, including reaching the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2011 – only 18 years old.

He reached the peak of his career in January 2016, when he was ranked number 17 in the world and has won a total of four ATP titles. Early in his career, he was criticized for his attitude and effort.

Bernard himself has admitted that he “never loved tennis” and that he played with “50 percent effort”, which has become a kind of symbol of his career.

After 2016, things went downhill sharply. Ranking drops, early exits and several fines characterized the years that followed.
