Dave Hughes almost called the police on a neighbour who committed an “un-Australian” parking act on Easter Monday.
The Aussie radio star vented his frustrations online over a grey car parked in the middle of a Melbourne street on the public holiday, thus blocking his car and preventing him from driving off.
“You can’t just leave your car in the middle of the road, even on a public holiday,” he captioned a video of his ordeal on Instagram. “It’s been at least 20 minutes already.”

With no driver in sight, Hughes raged on in the clip: “This is a dead-end street and that’s all very well, except that’s our Volvo, the white one there. And that car is parked in the middle of the road.”
“That’s not good … we wanna go home,” he added.
The 55-year-old also overlayed the video with the caption: “How long do I wait before we call the cops?”
Many of Hughes’ followers urged him to call the police straight away, arguing that the parking act was not only illegal, it was “selfish”, “inconsiderate” and “un-Australian”.
“I’d call the police and they should teach them a lesson,” one fan commented on the video, as another wrote, “That’s not a carpark pace … call the cops now! Needs to be towed away!”
“I would have about 30 seconds of patience,” one said, with another adding, “Call then now and don’t wait another minute- seriously.”

Other fans shared their own experiences with drivers who think the road rules don’t apply to them.
“So inconsiderate – we always have people park across our back gate driveway, have called police and they can’t do anything,” one shared, as another revealed, “I lived in inner city Sydney for 2 years. People would park in my driveway all the time. It happened over 100 times I reckon. Did my head in big time.”
Hughes didn’t say how the situation was resolved, but he recently said that he is “much more relaxed in odd situation[s] these days” because “I’ve realised there’s nothing to worry about”.
The comedian made the revelation to an Instagram fan back in January after he copped a “bizarre” heckle from a front-row audience member at a stand-up gig that momentarily shut down the whole show.
Hughes shared a brief clip of the confrontation on Instagram at the time, showing him addressing a female audience member who stood up in the front row to address the rest of the audience during his gig at Noosa venue The J.

“For the first time in my 33 year stand-up comedy career, an audience member in the front row attempted to censor my act,” Hughes wrote of the incident, which saw the woman in the front row yell at Hughes to “stop” making jokes about his teenage son, Rafferty.
“I tried explaining to her that he gives me a hard time too, and we mock each other constantly, and it’s all love, and I’m proud of him, but she wasn’t having it,” he explained.
Hughes said he later learned that the woman, who ended up leaving the show, had been attending as a carer for another audience member, “so she probably had no idea what my act was”.
“The bloke she was a carer for also had to leave a few mins after she walked out, cos she was giving him a lift home,” Hughes wrote. “If I’d known that while on stage, I would have told him to stay and that I would give him a lift home in my hire car.”
Hughes finished his post with an offer to the unnamed gentleman who’d had his night out cut short: “I’m happy to give him a refund or free tix to another show if he sees this.”
